After Owasso's win over Edmond Santa Fe and Bishop Kelley's win over Edmond Memorial, the two teams are now set to battle each other in the 6A state baseball semifinals.
Owasso vs. Edmond Santa Fe
Owasso took on Edmond Santa Fe Thursday, snagging a 10-0 win over the Wolves.
Scoring Summary
Bottom of 3: Leading 1-0, Owasso's Parker Dunn blasted one to right field for a two-run homer, advancing the Rams lead to 3-0.
Bottom of 4: Drew Gardner ripped one to center field. The RBI single made it 6-0, Rams up.
Bottom of 5: Owasso's Jake Enzbrenner ended the game with an RBI single to left. The Rams finished with a 10-0 run-rule win over the Wolves.
“When Dunn hit that HR, I mean he hit that one right on the screws, I think that was the back breaker for them,” said Owasso head coach Larry Turner. “We just stayed after it, played the small ball game. Neph was solid on the mound, you know, he's a gamer. I'm just so proud of this team."
Bishop Kelley vs. Edmond Memorial
Bishop Kelley played Edmond Memorial on Thursday, prevailing 8-4 over the Bulldogs.
The Moment of Truth
Top of 7: Bishop Kelley led 8-4 as the Comets battled to keep their lead. Josh Limes got a strikeout, making out number one. Then, Limes induced a 3-6-3 double play, which was originally called safe before being appealed. The play made for three outs and a Bishop Kelley win.
“This year, you know, I've heard a lot of people talking about us being the favorite, which is laughable because of all the depth [that] the 6A teams have over us,” said Bishop Kelley head coach Scott Ellis. “But, when we put our nine against their nine, I think we have as good as of chance as any.”
