Firefighters battled a house fire Friday night in the 16200 block of South 279th East Avenue. Coweta Deputy Fire Chief Greg Edwards said the call came in just after 11 p.m.

The home was fully involved when several agencies arrived on scene.

Edwards said the fire may have been sparked by lightning.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and a neighbor helped take care of the homeowner's dogs. There were no injuries, but the home is a total loss, according to authorities.

Broken Arrow and Rolling Hills were two of the departments assisting Coweta. The state fire marshal will determined the official cause.
