This Saturday, a woman named Mattie Suver will attempt to win $10,000 in the Bristow Wildflower Run.
In order to win the money, Suver, who is an American Distance Project runner, must break the Oklahoma 5K State record, which is 13:51. The record was set by Aron Rono at the Brookhaven Run in Norman in 2010.
Though 13:51 may be hard to beat, Suver has ran a 16:02 5K before, which is good enough to set a new women's record, which is currently 16:06. That record was set by Mirriam Kaumba back in 2006 at the Huckleberry 5K in Jay.
Suver's achievements include:
-2015 World XC Team USA Member
-Runner-up at 2013 US 20k Championships
-26th at 2013 World Cross Country Championships
-Bronze Medalist at 2013 BUPA Edinburgh XC

-7th in 2009 NCAA 10k
