A new emergency shelter is now open in Tulsa for families escaping domestic violence and sexual assault.
Domestic Violence Intervention Services tell us this shelter can help nearly 100 people in need of a safe place to go.
The new shelter is much larger than the previous one which was built nearly 30 years ago.
Survivors say it is life-changing.
"Without DVIS, I don't know if I would be here today," one woman said. "I am so happy for this to be available for other survivors, to help so many more people."
Domestic Violence Intervention Services also built a new transitional apartment complex, with 20 units.
