The Muscogee (Creek) Nation national council has scheduled an emergency meeting Thursday evening in Okmulgee.
The only item on the agenda is a resolution expressing "no confidence" in the tribe's Principal Chief George Tiger.
The council voted unanimously last week to ask Tiger to resign after a deal they said he made behind their backs that would've allowed another tribe to build a casino in Creek territory.
On March 13, George Tiger issued a statement saying the deal he had made with the Kialegee Tribal Town was never a secret.
"I can state categorically that I have acted at all times in accordance with our constitution and the best interests of ALL Creek citizens," Tiger stated in his statement.
Thursday's emergency meeting is scheduled to begin at the conclusion of a meeting of the council's Business, Finance and Justice committee. That meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, a petition filed with the Creek Nation Election Board began circulating calling for Tiger's impeachment.
