Tulsa Police say an email scam is currently underway in Green Country that can lead to identity theft. The fraudulent email mimics a Bank of America communication and website.

The TPD financial crimes unit distributed photos of the fraudulent email on Monday.

The email shows that the financial institution has transferred money to the person's account. The customer is offered the option to cancel the transaction by clicking on a link enclosed in the email.

Authorities say customers who click the link will find a phishing site that appears to be the actual Bank of America but is not. The site requests information including: Social Security, date of birth, and answers to security questions.

"If a citizen were to complete all the requested information, the scammer would then be able to compromise every aspect of the citizens financial life," a news release states.
