Emergency personnel rescued two people in a near drowning after flood waters swept their car off a logging road.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol said an 18-year-old driver tried to cross a flooded, low water bridge on a county road near the Glover River in McCurtain County around midnight Saturday. The vehicle was swept down the river.
Two people were able to make it out and walked to shore. The driver, Robert Colley of Broken Bow, and another passenger, 26-year-old Lori Hickman of Wright City, were found clinging to tree branches about a mile down the river.
Troopers say the Broken Bow and Holly Creek Fire Departments, McCurtain County EMS and McCurtain County Sheriff's Department all assisted in the rescue.Colley and Hickman were taken to the hospital where they are said to be stable. The other two people, ages 19 and 17, were not injured.
