The Union School District wants everyone to know that something significant for the world of mathematics will happen this Saturday morning.
Saturday will be Pi Day. Pi is a mathematical constant which is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. It's usually listed as 3.14 or sometimes as 3.14159, but its decimal representation settles into a permanent repeating pattern.
Since the year is 2015, this year's Pi Day will hold added significance at 9:26:53 a.m., because the date and time will line up as 3.141592653, the first ten digits of Pi.
The Union School District is trying an unusual approach to help it make sense to students. It tweeted out a link to a video it posted on YouTube about the event.
