The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says possible human remains have been found in rural Bristow.

According to an OSBI news release, a tip led to the Creek County Sheriff's Office requested agents assist on the service of a search warrant on South 337 West Avenue, a few miles from Heyburn State Park.

“With the help of the medical examiner's office, what appears to be human remains were discovered,” the release says.

OSBI spokesperson Jessica Brown couldn't release any details about who agents think the remains may belong to or if anyone lives on the property. Brown said investigators do think the circumstances are suspicious.

The ME has taken possession of the remains and the case remains open while investigators work to establish identity through DNA and the cause and manner of death.
