LeFlore County Sheriff's Office said a missing student's vehicle was found Sunday in Latimer County, and the body inside has been confirmed to be 21-year-old Callie Morris.
The SUV was found overturned and partially submerged in water in an area near Buffalo Valley, Oklahoma, according to Major Rick Rutledge of the Civil Air Patrol.
Morris was last heard from early Thursday evening as she drove to McAlester from Hot Springs, where she was attending nursing school.
LeFlore County Sheriff Rob Seal said that Morris' cell phone was pinged in the Big Cedar area at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, January 29.
Volunteers and authorities met at the LeFlore County Sheriff's Office in Talihina to resume the search Sunday morning. Rutledge said they worked into Saturday night to narrow the search area even further. The information led them to an area west of Big Cedar as well as west of Talihina all along Highway 63.
The discovery Sunday morning ends a three-day search in the mountainous southeastern Oklahoma region.
