Investigators are trying to figure out what happened after a house fire took the life of a Bixby man early Friday morning.
Several neighbors were still in shock that a tragedy like that could happen so close to their homes.
The call went out at 3 a.m., but Bixby firefighters said it looked as if the fire had been burning for a while.
It was the orange glow from the home on 118th Street that woke one of the next door neighbors.
She said she ran to the burning home and started banging on the windows, hoping no one was inside.
Bixby Fire Chief Bryan Wood said they found the body of a man inside.

The neighbor said she was devastated and that she was close with the man who lived there. She said she couldn't believe he was gone.
She's not alone. Several neighbors said they were saddened by the loss. They all also wanted to know how something like that could happen.
That's a question the Bixby Fire Marshal and the State Fire Marshal's office is trying to figure out.
They spent the day sifting through debris, looking for clues on where, and how, the fire started. It's a lengthy process that's still not over.
Neighbors said Bixby police had been at the home this week for some sort of disturbance.
Police were also talking with investigators on scene Friday afternoon.
Right now we're still unsure on how that factors into this investigation.
