Thousands and thousands of Garth Brooks fans poured in and out of the BOK Center for Saturday's doubleheader concert. The country music legend is on a nationwide tour and is playing seven shows right here in Tulsa for the first time since 1997.

Police planned for the influx of visitors to downtown way in advance. All of downtown parking is split in half to keep things flowing between the two shows. Brooks performed at 7 p.m., and turned around and opened the doors to a new crowd 10:30 p.m.

At a news conference on Friday, Brooks told media that he didn't anticipate any problems with doing a double feature, even at his age. He said it was like having a second baby, and there's always enough love to go around for both children.

“It's amazing,” fan Michael Beeler said. “I don't know no he has the strength to do that... he always has.”

Fans we spoke with before the early show didn't have any major issues finding parking downtown.

“We were in a lot of traffic,” Beeler said. “We had to pay 40 bucks to park... everything was good it's worth it."

Kyle Bernadi drove up from McAlester to see the country music star and found a space to park for a good price.

“We just came in here... saw $5 parking that's where we went... yes, very fast," Bernadi said.

Natalie Alexander and her family parked close to the BOK Center without a problem.

"It's good really good... we're in the parking garage so it's a lot easier," Alexander said.

Behind the scenes, Tulsa police tried to prevent downtown traffic from coming to standstill.

“We will block vehicle traffic so we can get as many people out of their vehicles, so it will create space for the second crowd," TPD Capt. Dan Fuller said.

Police encouraged the 10:30 p.m. crowd to find parking east of Main Street to make things go smoother.

“The crowds have all been good,” Fuller said. “It's a little chilly. You won't get hot on your way down here, but it's been a good time."

And after Saturday's double feature, Brooks and his high-energy show will be ready to go again on Sunday night at 7 p.m.
