December's Good Deed: Kevin Durant Replaces Boy's Stolen Sneakers

Kevin Durant played Santa to 13-year-old Anthony Cupp after the young boy had his KD shoes stolen off his feet when he was walking home from school. The Michigan student was approached by two older kids on his walk alone, before they took his Nike sneakers. 

When Durant found out about the incident, he teamed up with the Detroit Pistons in order to figure out a solution. The Pistons asked Cupp to be the ball-boy when the team played the Oklahoma City Thunder, earlier this December. At the game, Cupp met Durant, and got a new pair of KDs autographed by Durant and a backpack full of KD gear. “It was terrible news, and I just wanted to try to do something to help him out and put a smile on his face, and I was able to do that,” said Durant.

Durant is Cupp's favorite basketball player, so when Durant approached him he thought it was “awesome.” Durant said he was glad Cupp enjoyed the day, and that it meant a lot to be able to help him. “Just knowing the impact we have as basketball players, I mean people look up to us… People that we don't even know [and their] situations that they go through every single day, they just need somebody to look at and smile at, and for us to do that for them means a lot,” Durant stated.

The OKC Thunder plays on Christmas Day in San Antonio against the Spurs, but as of now Durant will not be playing due to injury. The game tips off at 1:30 p.m. in the AT&T Center.
