Bartlesville Vandals Leave Obscene Messages On Properties, Including Church, Daycare Vans

Police are on the hunt for a vandal in Bartlesville.

They said someone spray painted nearly a dozen properties, including cars, homes, vans and RVs.

Now police are scrambling trying to figure out who is responsible.

"It's coming off the fiberglass pretty good, but I don't think it's going to come off the metal," Amy Ashlock said.

Ashlock and her family just moved a camper to the curb next to their home. It was recently repaired from some storm damage a couple of months ago.

Now it's damaged again.

"This really upsets me, I mean it infuriates me,” Ashlock said. “It was, I've calmed down a lot, I'll just put it that way. I was really upset over this."

The properties across Bartlesville were tagged with spray paint Tuesday night, including a church van and trailer and a daycare bus.

The messages were obscene.

"It's really sad, because they've caused a lot of damage,” Ashlock said. “The lady that had the van at the daycare, she had to go take her kids to the school and pick them up that day with all of that vulgar language on the van, it was really sad; it affected a lot of people."

A lot of people that now have to take time to fix the damage.

Police said they're still trying to figure out why it happened.

"I really don't understand,” BPD Capt. Jay Hastings said. “I mean, motive I guess, is the biggest concern is that we don't what the motive was… it doesn't make any sense."

Especially to victims like Ashlock who said her family lives on a quiet street where neighbors are close.

“We keep an eye out for each other, we know what's going on and who's not supposed to be here, so we normally don't have any trouble," she said.

Ashlock said now they'll be looking out for each other even more.

“We're comfortable out here; we live in a nice neighborhood, so we're definitely going to start taking some more precautions,” she said. “And as far as my camper goes, we'll probably move it to my father where it's protected."
