There's been a man walking through a Tulsa neighborhood, knocking on doors and asking for money to repair his broken down car.
The problem is police said the man doesn't have a car. They said he's been arrested for this once and officers think he's back at it again.
The Midtown Tulsa Alert Neighbors' Facebook page posted a picture of Torey Minter with a warning recently.
Police arrested Minter for obtaining money by false pretense on September 7th.
They say he knocks on doors and tells people he's having car trouble, or ran out of gas, and needs money and that people have given him some.
"Clearly the money is not going for gas or a broken down car because he doesn't even have a vehicle," said Tulsa Police Corporal, Jarrod Hart.
Hart believes Minter's gift of gab and the fact that he was always well dressed and clean shaven, is why people dropped their guard around him and believed his plea for help.
Police suggest you be wary of or on alert anytime a person you don't know approaches you.
"You open the door to a stranger you have no idea what they want or what their intentions are," Hart said.
Minter was arrested in 2013 for using someone's car without permission. He got a three year deferred sentence but records show he failed to follow the rules the judge set out for him.
Prosecutors were in the process of getting that sentence revoked when he got arrested for obtaining money by false pretenses.
He goes to court in December for that, but while he's out, police suspect he might be knocking on doors and asking for money once again.
"Yes, he would be a person of interest because of the mode of operation they're seeing," Hart said.
Police said if you see Minter knocking on doors in any neighborhood, give them a call.
