A search team found an Oklahoma deer hunter missing in southwest Arkansas Tuesday afternoon.
Sebastian County Sheriff's Lt. Philip Pevehouse said the team found 22-year-old Wylie Peters of Muldrow on Poteau Mountain. He said the search team included members of Peters' family.
Peters had been last seen Sunday and was reported missing on Monday. Pevehouse said Peters told searchers he found shelter after becoming lost and used a creek for water.
“At first they didn't worry too much about him as Wylie has some experience being in the woods and hunting,” according to Pevehouse. “His father said they didn't think too much about it until it got dark Sunday night and his son had not returned.”
Pevehouse said Peters did not require medical treatment and was able to walk out of the forest under his own power.
