Mounds Police say a woman driving on a front tire rim sparked a grass fire north of the Creek County community overnight before crashing her pickup in a ditch.
The Mounds Fire Department responded to the fire on Highway 75A at 186th Street South just after midnight.
After firefighters pulled the woman out of the truck, she told police she was trying to get away from a domestic incident in Sapulpa and had lost her way.
Assistant Police Chief Craig Murray said the woman's truck lost a tire on the highway and she kept driving on the rim. She drove off the road, starting the fire and ending up in the ditch. He said he believes she had been drinking before she crashed.
"We found vodka in the car and apparently she did make a statement to one of the firemen that she had had one drink tonight," said Mounds Assistant Fire Chief Craig Murray.
Murray said the woman struck her head on the windshield when the truck crashed. He said she refused a field sobriety check because she said she was driving under suspension. Medics took the woman to a Sapulpa hospital to be checked out for the head injury.
The fire department quickly put out the grass fire.
