During November, police officers on the east side of Tulsa, will issue red light violation citations instead of just giving a warning to drivers.
In a news release, Tulsa Police say Mingo Valley Division traffic officers will randomly monitor all major intersections looking specifically for red light violators.
The fine for running a red light is $200.
Tulsa Police say red light violations are a leading causing of injury crashes in the city and the Mingo Valley Division on the east side of town has some of the city's most dangerous intersections when it comes to these type of collisions.
Police say the goal is to reduce the frequency and severity of red light crashes with this stepped up enforcement effort.
