One man is dead in a collision Tulsa police believe was caused by drinking and driving. It happened at 2:40 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of East 1st Street and South Peoria.
The driver of a blue Chevy pickup was eastbound on 1st Street when he ran the stop sign and hit a Ford Taurus on Peoria, according to Tulsa Police Sergeant Chris Witt.
"I don't know whether the car was coming north or south on Peoria; right now, that's what we're tying to figure out," he said. "But from where they hit, the car has traveled quite a distance."
Police say there were two people in both vehicles: a man and woman in the car and two men in the pickup.
"The driver of the car has been pronounced deceased at the scene," Sergeant Witt said. "The driver of the truck has been arrested.
"We definitely believe alcohol played a factor in this fatality collision."
Witt said the passenger in the truck was cooperating and told officers they had just left a bar when the wreck took place. The woman passenger in the car was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
"Our crucial part is we have a two-hour window to make sure we get a breath test and a blood test," Witt said.
Russel Moore, 24, was taken into custody on complaints of first degree manslaughter, failure to stop for a stop sign and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Moore reportedly told officers he "was wasted," according to an arrest report.
