Broken Arrow Police Arrest 3 After Children Found In Home 'Covered' With Feces

Broken Arrow Police arrested three family members in a disturbing case of suspected child neglect. Police say there were four children living in a house that was covered in filth in a neighborhood near Kenosha and Aspen.

Police say a husband, wife and brother are all in the Tulsa County Jail, each accused of child neglect.

The bonds for Joshua, Jennifer and Jacob Johnston are each set at $50,000. When Broken Arrow officers went inside of the home in the 1600 block of West Oakland Street, they say they immediately smelled feces.

"I then observed that the tile in the entryway was covered in feces," one officer said.

In the arrest reports, authorities noted that it was hard to even walk through the house, because there were trash and clothes everywhere.

Both toilets they saw were broken, and in about a half dozen rooms they went through - all of them either had food, trash, feces, dirty diapers, or dirty clothing in them, arresting officers say.

Mattresses were soiled; there was feces on the walls and floors of other rooms, the reports state. Police say a small child in a diaper was crawling in the filth.

Broken Arrow Police say the Department of Human Services made arrangements to give the kids a safe place to stay.
