Owner: Facebook Video Helps Tulsa Business Recover Shoplifted Clothing

Shoplifting caught on camera at a Tulsa children's store. The video was shared on Facebook and Friday evening all of the items taken are back where they belong. 

I was talking with the owner of the Little Stash on South Peoria when Ashley Ryan's phone rang and I could tell by the look on her face it wasn't an ordinary call. It all goes to show the power social media can have.

"You are sorry? You do know it affects local businesses when you go around stealing, it sounds like you do this a lot?," Ashley Ryan, owner of Little Stash. 

It's the last phone call Ashley Ryan expected to get Friday afternoon. 

"You're probably not welcome to shop here again in the future. Ok. Thank you. Can you believe that? That's nuts," said Ashley Ryan. 

She says she walked into her children's store on South Peoria Friday morning and noticed things were a little off. Ashley checked her surveillance system and sure enough, something had gone wrong the day before. Around $500 in children's clothes went right out the front door. 

"It happened pretty quick, just watching her, seeing every little thing she took, it was very frustrating," said Ashely Ryan. 

Frustration sent her straight to social media. 

"I just posted the video to my Facebook page, I wasn't sure that anybody would even know who she was, but it was more to make myself feel better but sure enough it just started being shared immediately," said Ashely Ryan. 

Those shares, that just hours later led to the phone call. 

"Ok, so you for sure will be here today? And make sure everything that you took is brought back please," said Ashley Ryan. 

The woman in the video was identified by another business-- who says--she had stolen from them in the past. They contacted Ryan and gave her the woman's information, leading to an unlikely call back and ultimately, relief for this small business owner. 

"We're not a big corporation so it definitely hits hard when it does happen," said Ashley Ryan. 

Ryan called News On 6 and said at 5:30 p.m. all of the clothing taken had been returned. She is still considering whether or not to follow through with criminal charges.
