A subsidiary of the Choctaw Nation, Choctaw Defense has announced a $10.7 million contract with the military.
The contract concerns Marine Tactical Vehicle Replacement trailers or MTVRs.
Choctaw Defense say the trailers are designed to work under extreme off road conditions matching the capability of the MTVR Prime Mover tow vehicle. They are manufactured at Choctaw Defense facilities in McAlester and Hugo which employ about 150 workers.
The MTVR trailers are one of several tactical vehicle contracts awarded to Choctaw Defense.
The company says it works with the U.S. Navy's Seabees to convert trucks into 'field service units." The first of 12 units were delivered this year. Choctaw Defense outfit the trucks to include onboard generators and in-the-field fluid replacement capability for heavy equipment such as cranes and dozers.
Choctaw Defense also has facilities in Antlers, Moore and Tulsa.
