The University of Tulsa and Northern Illinois University have agreed to a two-game football series, it was announced today by TU's Vice President and Director of Athletics Derrick Gragg.
The first game in the series will be played in Tulsa on Sept. 10, 2022, while Tulsa will return the game in DeKalb, Illinois on Sept. 23, 2023.
The series-opening game in Tulsa will be the first-ever meeting between Tulsa and Northern Illinois on the football field. NIU, a member of the Mid-American Conference, has won two conference championships and four straight MAC West titles in the last four seasons, and in 2013 made a MAC record sixth-straight bowl appearance. The Huskies' 49 wins in the last four years ranks second behind only Oregon for most victories among all FBS teams. Before a loss at Arkansas last Saturday, NIU had won 17 consecutive road games.
Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
