The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says an elderly Grove woman is in a Joplin hospital after a car she was driving struck a bull standing in the road early Wednesday.

Troopers said Betty Lou Blake, 80, was headed west on a Delaware County road northeast of Grove when her 2007 Chevy Aveo struck the bull at 5:28 a.m. The collision caused her car to go off the road and into a ditch.

Troopers said Blake was first taken to a Grove hospital then transferred to a Joplin hospital in serious condition with head, arm and internal injuries.

The OHP says the bull was injured and its owner came to the scene and took possession of the animal.
