Tulsa Police officers arrested a man for vandalizing a number of vehicles at six car dealerships along Memorial Drive Monday night. One of the managers at Don Carlton Honda said it's going to cost thousands of dollars to fix all the damage.
Officers said Williams Knox, 24, of Broken Arrow used the metal buckle from his belt to damage the windows of 20 to 25 vehicles parked in lots from 44th to 49th and Memorial just before midnight.
A security guard spotted Knox and called police, officers said. They said they found him hiding behind a car.
Sami Khalaf with Don Carlton Honda said the suspect damaged about 30 cars at the Honda and Acura dealerships.
"On the windshields we have to replace every one of them, they cannot be fixed,” he said. "The Honda store we have about $7,000 dollars in damage and the Acura store we have about $2,225."
Police said when they asked Knox why he did it he told them he had gotten into a fight with his girlfriend and took out his anger on the cars. They booked Knox into the Tulsa County jail on a complaint of malicious injury to property and possession of a controlled drug. Jail records show he was being held in lieu of $7,500 bond with a court appearance set for September 23, 2014.
