The 10th annual HOT ROD Drag Week began Monday with a record setting number of racers in search for the “Fastest Street Car in America.”
The 340 cars will drag race, and travel, more than 1,000 miles in the same car, with the same engine, on four different tracks.
Racers will begin at the Osage Casino Raceway Park in Tulsa on September 8th and make their way to Heartland Park in Topeka Kansas, September 9th, Thunder Valley Raceway in Noble, Oklahoma, September 10th, SRCA Drag Strip in Great Bend, Kansas, September 11th and return to Osage Casino Raceway September 12th.
Racing hours are 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Tulsa Raceway on Friday.
The racers will have to provide photographic evidence to HOT ROD as proof they are driving the specific route as they go from city to city.
They are also holding, for the first time ever, the Heads-Up Shootout on September 13th. Instead of timed trials, this will see the cars race until a winner is announced.
It's $10 for ages 13 and up to see the races until Thursday, and $15 for the finals on Friday and the Heads-Up Shootout on Saturday. Kids 12 and under are free with a paying adult.
VIP tickets are also available in Tulsa; more information is available online.
