Veterans Gather For 'Healing the Heroes' Event In Tulsa

More than 50 veterans got together at the Tulsa Gun Club on Saturday to share stories and support.

It was the sixth annual "Healing the Heroes" event.

The veterans spent the morning shooting on the five-stand field before heading to a dove hunt in the afternoon.

Organizers say the weekend -- which includes lodging, food and range time -- is completely free to the veterans thanks to donations from local sponsors.

"They put on an exceptional program here for the wounded vets,” Penny Stillwell said. “They take very good care of them. They get to destress and tell war stories. They do a wonderful job here."

The veterans were not just from Green Country, some traveled all the way from Texas and Arkansas.
