Tulsa Police Officer Jayson Smith is credited with saving the life of a man who was stabbed in a domestic dispute, according to the Tulsa Police Department.
Smith responded to a stabbing Tuesday in the 3700 block of North Quaker Avenue and found a 35-year-old man losing a large amount of blood from a stab wound to the back of his right leg. Smith quickly made a tourniquet to stop the bleeding, and the man was taken to a Tulsa hospital.
Police say a trauma surgeon at the hospital said the patient's blood pressure was extremely low when he arrived at the emergency room, and the surgeon credited the tourniquet for saving the man's life.
Police say they believe the 35-year-old man was the aggressor in a domestic assault and battery, and the woman who was also at the apartment where the stabbing took place was not arrested, the news release states.
