The next few days will feature a return to summer-like weather.Afternoon highs should move into the mid and upper 90s with morning lows leveling off in the mid-70s.Heat advisory and warning criteria may be met in some locations across northern OK and southern Kansas by the end of the week into the first part of the weekend.A few showers or storms are still possible this morning across far northern OK and southern Kansas, but the odds are low.The mid-level ridge of high pressure is gaining strength and will expand into the area Wednesday through the weekend.
Late yesterday afternoon we saw a few scattered storms that formed due to an outflow boundary and a weak disturbance near the area. This morning we've been tracking a few showers and storms across Kansas into northern OK.These should weaken and dissipate as they move into an environment less favorable for sustainment.I'll keep a slight mention for a shower or storm in the forecast for the next few hours before taking these out of the 7 day planner by midday. There may be one or two thunderstorms this afternoon across far eastern OK and southern Kansas, but like yesterday afternoon, a lot of locations will miss out.Any storm that forms this afternoon would be strong to severe with wind issues.
The EURO and GFS data continue to support another pattern change by the middle of next week allowing a cold front to sweep southward into the centrals plains as a disturbance drops southward to near Oklahoma. But for the next several days, our forecast will continue to keep the hot and humid conditions as the common denominator.
The official Tulsa high yesterday was only 89 recorded at 2:52pm.Locations 40 to 50 miles west of Tulsa hit 100.The normal average high is 93 and the low 71.Our daily records for today include a high of 108 from 1934 and a low of 56 from 1932.
