A retired Tulsa County Sheriff's Deputy helped authorities capture a man wanted for rape in Lawrence, Kansas.
Carlton Matthew Grass, who goes by several aliases, is being held in the Tulsa County Jail after his arrest Saturday afternoon.
The retired deputy called TCSO after seeing Grass riding his bicycle in the Town West area Saturday afternoon. When questioned, Grass first told authorities his name was Smokey Eagle and that he was from North Dakota. The arresting officer quickly found a wanted bulletin from Kansas that listed Grass and the alias he used.
Lawrence police say Grass was being sought in a sexual assault that took place near their downtown on June 15, 2014. Grass is homeless and has been known to stay in shelters and homeless camps, the wanted bulletin states.
In addition to "Smokey Eagle," police say he has used the names Carlos Bazon and Carlton Eagle in the past.
The 52-year-old Grass was arrested on complaints of false personation and being a fugitive from justice, as well as the $50,000 rape warrant from Kansas.
