Tulsa Police say they had to call in extra patrol units after a group of people got somewhat unruly early Saturday morning in south Tulsa. Authorities say they were initially called to the 6400 block of South Peoria after a pedestrian was struck by a passing car at about 2 a.m.
According to a police officer on scene, the group had been drinking and were walking northbound on Peoria in the middle of the street. A car heading northbound didn't see them until it was too late and hit an adult male.
The driver stopped to call police. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with what was believed to be a broken ankle.
When police didn't arrest or ticket the driver, the other people walking with the injured man became angry. Members of the group were cursing the officers and could be heard some distance away, a witness reported.
Additional officers were called to the scene, and eventually the other pedestrians left without further incident.
