Rain is moving across eastern and southeastern Oklahoma Thursday and those showers are expected to continue until Friday morning raising the risk of flooding.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for counties south and southeast of Tulsa. They include Haskell, Hughes, Latimer, LeFlore, McIntosh, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Pittsburg and Sequoyah counties. The watch is in effect until Friday morning.
News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says the rain cooled air will keep the temperature across eastern Oklahoma below 70 degrees Thursday.
He says the heaviest rain will be south of I-40. Three to five inches of rain is possible as the showers slowly push east into Arkansas, raising the potential for flooding especially in low-lying areas.
As the rain exits the state Friday, Crone says the temperature will climb back into the upper 70s.
