The heat didn't keep about 150 people from competing in the Christa Voss Duathlon today.
The competition started with a 5K run near River Parks.
From there, the runners transition to a 30K bicycle ride and then back to another 5K run.
Tulsa's own Jessica Meyers, a pro triathlete, finished the race first in 1:22:28.
The competition is named for Christa Voss, an avid runner and cyclist who was killed by a drunk driver in 2009.
"Yeah, I mean it's kind of a difficult event; there's a lot of challenge to riding a bike and running,” Tim Dreiling of Fleet Feet Sports said. “So it is neat to see people come together and honor her memory. It's fun to see all the fancy bikes I kind of enjoy that part."
Proceeds from the race go to supporting activities of the biology department at Tulsa Community College, where Voss was a professor.
