Congressman Jim Bridenstine finally got to tour Fort Sill after being turned away earlier this month.

Representative Bridenstine tells us he met with medical staff and the children. While he says the professionals are doing what they can to keep these children healthy - the difficulty lies in the question of what to do from here on out.

"The concerns of all of us in Congress, my concerns, were validated," Bridenstine in a phone interview after his visit.

Representative Bridenstine said while they weren't given specific numbers, the children at Ft. Sill have been through a lot.

"Now you've got coyotes and transnational criminal organizations dealing with children, and there are reports that a lot of these children end up being abused," he said.

And while the children who made it to Fort Sill are lucky - he says - the government now needs to stop the flow of illegals from Central American.

"What we need to do is secure the southern border; we need to make sure that children here are reunited with families back in their home counties, and we need to make sure we announce to folks in Central American if you do get in, you're not going to be able to stay," Bridenstine said.

And for the children already here - Bridenstine says they need to be reunited with their families back home - requiring a change in the law.

"I think Republicans and Democrats alike at this point understand what needs to happen," he said.

So again - he said the children seemed physically healthy and that the professionals are doing all they can and answering whatever questions they can.

But unfortunately they just didn't have many answers.
