An electrical problem at Tulsa International Airport impacted hundreds of passengers Tuesday evening.

Airport officials say an electrical failure shut off the runway lights at around 10 p.m. making it unsafe for airplanes to land or take off.

The airport used its Twitter feed to announce that "due to an electrical malfunction our runway lights were temporarily inoperable. Repairs have been made and operations are back to normal."

Because of the outage, several flights were diverted to Oklahoma City's Will Rogers Airport, according a spokesperson for that airport.

No one from Tulsa International Airport has said how many flights were affected by the problem or what caused the electrical failure.
