Fifth Annual Jared Shoemaker Memorial Walkers Head To Stillwater

A group of Tulsa area law enforcement officers and Marines began a three-day, 60-mile walk from Tulsa to Stillwater Monday morning.

The fifth annual Cpl. Jared Shoemaker walk takes place prior to the Special Olympics Oklahoma Summer Games which starts Wednesday on the campus of Oklahoma State University.

The walk honors Marine Cpl. and Tulsa Police officer Jared Shoemaker who was killed in September 2006 in Iraq.

Money raised from the walk are donated to Special Olympics of Oklahoma in Jared's name.

The group is traveling Highway 51 through the communities of Mannford and Yale before arriving at OSU on Wednesday.
