Tulsa Board of County Commissioners approved opening the bidding process for start of improvements at the David L. Moss Correctional Center in downtown Tulsa.

During their meeting Monday morning, the commissioners said bids for architectural services would be due May 16, 2014.

Those bids are scheduled to be open May 19, 2014.

Last month, Tulsa County voters approved a proposition to extend a 0.026 sales tax funding those improvements. County officials said the jail is overcrowded, which harms both jail employees and inmates.
