National Weather Service: Tornado Hit LeFlore County Sunday

The National Weather Service office in Tulsa confirms a second tornado struck in Oklahoma on Sunday, April 27, 2014. It says an EF-1 tornado hit rural LeFlore County.

KFSM TV, the CBS affiliate in Fort Smith, Arkansas reports the National Weather Service discovered the damage during a survey two miles northeast of Octavia.

The NWS said the tornado touched down at 5:33 p.m. Octavia is located halfway between Poteau and Broken Bow on Highway 259.

No injuries were reported.

The LeFlore County tornado struck three minutes after a deadly tornado hit the Ottawa County community of Quapaw in the northeast corner of the state.

The Enhanced Fujita Scale rates tornadoes on a scale of 0 to 5, with 5 being the worst. The NWS says an EF-1 tornado's winds can reach 110 miles per hour.
