Police say two people were injured after an armored truck ran a stop sign and crashed into a pickup truck at 177th East Avenue and Admiral Place in East Tulsa.
Police said the Loomis armored truck was eastbound on Admiral Place when the driver and passenger said the sun blinded them. They drove through the intersection and were hit by a northbound pickup truck shortly after 8 a.m.
The impact sent the armored truck off the road. It rolled over into a creek landing on its top. The pickup truck sustained front end damage.
Witnesses rushed to the scene helping the victims get out.
"We had problems opening the door, and when we finally got it open...we realized there was a guy in the back. We tried to open that door. We opened it. He was laying on the floor, pretty beat up," said witness Tyler Cypert.
Officers said a passenger in the armored truck was taken to the hospital. The driver of the pickup truck was treated at the scene by EMSA paramedics for minor injuries. The driver of the armored truck was not injured.
Police said the intersection will remain closed for several hours while crews work to remove the armored truck from the creek.
Police officers have secured the scene.
When contacted, Loomis Tulsa said they are investigating the crash.
