A Tulsa church is celebrating the recent same-sex marriage ruling by a federal judge with a state-wide engagement party.

"Pro- family, pro-children and pro-justice," All Souls Unitarian Church senior minister Marlin Lavanhar said about last week's ruling that Oklahoma's gay marriage ban is unconstitutional. "This decision should be celebrated by All Americans and religious people. No majority vote should be able to deny a minority the equal rights guaranteed by our Constitution."

U.S. District Judge Terence Kern stayed his ruling pending appeal, which means same-sex marriages still cannot happen in Oklahoma for now.

But All Souls says it will show its support for a new law with a celebration right before Valentine's Day.

A 6 p.m. engagement party will be held at 2952 S. Peoria on Feb. 12 for all couples who look forward to marrying in Oklahoma, the minister said.

Family, friends and LGBT allies are also invited, as are ministers and churches interested in performing marriage rites.
