Sand Springs Fire Department is looking for the owner of a home that was destroyed by fire overnight Tuesday.

Crews were called to the home in the 900 block of North Cedar at about 2 a.m., according to Fire Chief Mike Wood. Heavy fire was coming through the roof of the house.

Wood said the fire started in the center of the house, but the cause and exact location are still under investigation.

Neighbors told firefighters they thought the home was unoccupied, but Wood said they found quite a few personal belongings in the home that looked like someone may be staying there.

"We haven't found the owner yet," he said. No one was present at the time of the fire.

Freezing temperatures made things tougher on fire crews.

"We had a few 'slip and falls,'" Wood said. "Nobody got hurt, fortunately, but other than that we just have to move a little bit slower when we're out walking on the streets."

The home was a total loss, he said.
