Union High School Band Departs For Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

It's an honor only one other Oklahoma high school band has received.

Now Union is on its way to perform in the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

They were up bright and early Sunday morning to board buses to New York City. Union was picked for the honor last year, and the band has been practicing ever since.

"It's a little surreal honestly," band director Matt McCready said. "It's been such a huge undertaking, you know, hours and months, literally years of planning to get to this day, and now here we finally are."

After the parade, the kids will get time off to explore New York City and see some Broadway shows.
