Tulsa Police Say Apartment Evacuated After Manager Hit Gas Meter

Residents of a small apartment building were evacuated overnight after a woman ran into a gas meter in front of the building at 1111 South Denver.

The woman, who police identified as apartment manager Jennifer Hipp, left the scene but was later cited, according to Corporal Larry Edwards with the Tulsa Police Department.

Edwards said witnesses recognized Hipp as the hit-and-run driver. Police located her vehicle, a 2001 silver Honda Accord, in the parking lot. They cited her with misdemeanor hit and run.

The TPD corporal said EMSA paramedics checked Hipp out but found no major injuries.

The gas meter was damaged at about 11:26 p.m., and residents were able to re-enter the property within the hour.
