The Oklahoma Department of Human Services can help needy Oklahomans with winter heating costs. The Winter Heating Program is taking applications for help beginning Tuesday, December 10.

Eligibility is based on household income and assets. Only one payment is allowed each year per household.

The maximum income guidelines vary depending on the number of people in the household. For example, a family of four can make up to $2,159 per month.

Some households receiving public assistance through DHS may automatically be qualified and should get a letter in the mail. Those people don't need to apply.

However, if you or someone you know becomes eligible, apply for the Winter Heating Program at the local DHS County Office.

Find the DHS office in your county.
