Homicide detectives made an arrest Thursday in connection with a murder outside a Tulsa motel.

Officers found the body of Tirus Johnson lying on the ground dead outside the Tonight Inn and Suites in the 8800 block of East Admiral Place on October 13, 2013.

Keelan Smallwood, 22, was arrested on warrants Thursday and booked into jail on a complaint of obstructing or resisting officers, related to the case.

Sgt. Dave Walker said in a news release that detectives also found a handgun, believed to be the murder weapon. They are now looking to arrest the man they believe to be the shooter.

Walker said they are ready to arrest William Rush, 18, for the murder. Detectives believe Rush and Johnson knew each other and were fighting in the parking lot before the shooting.

Anyone who may be helping Rush avoid arrest are taking the risk of being arrested, as well, Walker said.

Police say Rush also goes by "Cinco." Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
