State regulators are allowing a cell phone company, exposed by 6 Investigates, to stop doing business in Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission gave its approval Tuesday to ICON Telecom's voluntary relinquishment of its Eligible Telecommunications Carrier designation announced last month.
The Oklahoma City-based company provided government-subsidized cell phones and plans to Oklahomans under the program.
The commission first objected to Icon's relinquishment because the company didn't give customers 30 days' notice. But, Tuesday's decision officially marks the end of the road for Icon Telecom in Oklahoma.
