Tulsa Sex Offender Accused Of Child Stealing Bound Over For Trial

A Tulsa man will go to trial for abducting his 2-year-old daughter in July, prompting an Amber Alert.

Shannon Dean, 38, is charged with child stealing and failure to register as a sex offender.

Police said Dean, an ex-convict and sex offender, entered a daycare facility at 5900 S. Peoria Ave., grabbed the little girl from the arms of a worker and left with her.

Dean was also wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for domestic assault and battery.

Dean has served time in the Oklahoma prison system off and on since 1990. He has convictions for kidnapping, first-degree rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of merchandise and unlawful distribution of narcotics.

He waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday. Dean's next court appearance is scheduled for October 21.
