Cascia Hall football coach Joe Medina has been successful in his tenure for the Commandos. He's done it on the strength of discipline, good technique, putting the defense in good position and practicing repetition.
"It's very similar to what we try to get our players to do," said Medina.
But is he talking about coaching his team or winning a dance competition? He's talking about the latter.
Medina is dancing in the Tulsa Stars competition for the San Miguel School on November 16. It's a cause that means a lot to him.
"It's such a tremendous school and provides an opportunity for kids who wouldn't normally have an opportunity or chance to attend a private school," Medina said. "So I'm dancing for them."
And just like the coach keeps his players in order, his "new coach" keeps him in order.
"He doesn't have to be asked twice, so to speak," Medina's dance instructor Deborah DeLaney said. "He's been great, he takes instruction really, really well."
For now, Medina is taking his dance lessons along with preparing his team for Friday nights.
