A new resource for people experiencing a psychiatric crisis is opening in Tulsa.

Family And Children's Services is opening a 24-hour crisis center Monday, October 7. The CrisisCare Center is located at 635 West 11th Street for people experiencing a psychiatric crisis.

"A psychiatric crisis can manifest itself in many different forms," said Gail Lapidus, Family And Children's Services CEO.

"It could be thoughts of suicide, hearing voices and may even escalate to the point where a person is feeling out of control."

Treatment includes a screening and assessment center, respite center and three-to-five day stabilization unit.

The CrisisCare Center will also house COPES, a community outreach team that provides crisis support by phone and can even make visits to the person in crisis. Services are free and confidential, according to a news release.

Services at the Family And Children's Services crisis center will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

For more information about their services, call 918-921-3200. If you or someone you love is experiencing a psychiatric crisis and needs immediate help, call 918-744-4800.
