The Ariat Tulsa Reigning Classic celebrates 10 years of success. Competition got underway Friday afternoon at the Tulsa County Fairgrounds.
The classic features western performance horses doing skilled maneuvers, everything from long, sliding stops to dramatic spins and rollbacks.
More than 700 horses are taking part, competing for their share of $300 million in prize money.
Organizers say the show, which runs through Sunday, is expected to bring in nearly $2 million to the local economy.
The Ariat Tulsa Reigning Classic is taking place in the Ford and Mustang arenas.
